Surfing

Nessa Onda Beach House is situated right in the center of multiple great surfing beaches. Depending on the swell forecast, grab your board and walk to Praia Ribanceira, Das Amores, D'Agua. You actually cannot park closer to Praia D'Agua than at Nessa Onda!

Praia Da Vila, Do Rosa, Silveira etc are only a short drive away. There are multiple surf schools in Rosa and Garopaba as well as board rental places. The Mormaii Outlet is at the entrance of Garopaba if you want to gear up!

Swimming

You will find many beautiful beaches in the area. We recommend the 15 min walk to Praia D'Agua, the hidden cove of Praia Dos Amores. There are live guards at Praia Ribanceira, Do Rosa and other places. For families with small children, we recommend Barra da Ibiraquera as the lagoon and the beach near the island offer calmer and shallow waters. As a small day trip, we like the beach at Guarda de Embau where you can take colourful boats to a sandbank, find drinks, pastel, SUP and kayak rentals.

Hiking

There are many hiking trails in the area starting directly from the house or at a short driving distance. As a rule of thumb, the coastal trails are easier and better maintained than the inland trails. An easy trail we can recommend is the one from Rosa Norte past Praia Vermelha all the way across the dunes of Ouvidor.

Sandboarding

The dunes of Siriu (40 min driving) offer great sandboarding options. You have 2 different access points with stairs and rental places. Sandboarding is great fun for the whole family!

Whale watching

Imbituba is fantastic for whale watching in the winter months. We have a great whale watching point at 10 min walking distance in between Praia Ribanceira and Dos Amores. You will most likely see dolphins and penguins as well. In Laguna (40 min drive), you can see a unique spectacle: botos (river dolphins) work together with the fishermen at sunset every night sharing the catch.

Waterfalls

We recommend the Cachoeiro do Siriú, Cascata da Tigela (very secluded) and (at 1:40 min with a challenging hike - but still absolutely worth it) the Cachoeira do Rio Vermelho.

Lookouts

Again, there are many look out points in the area if you consult Google; we recommend climbing the Ribanceira dunes for starters. In the direction of the city of Laguna, you find the famous Farol de Santa Marta. The Pedra do Fraude which is featured on our landing page is definitely worth a trip. Garopaba has the Pedra Branca and a little further up the coast, near Praia do Sonho, you will find the Pedra do Urubu which offers sweeping views of the coast line all the way to Garopaba overlooking dunes and a beautiful sandbank.

Sunrise - Sunset

The best spot for watching the sunrise is up the road halfway to Praia d'Agua. The sunset is nice from Paraiso 26 with a cocktail or from the top of the dunes in Ribanceira or across the Lagoon of Mirim at Tropical Sol Bar and Beach.

For families

Swimming with small children is nice at the Barra da Ibiraquera as the lagoon and the beach across from the island has shallow and calm waters; there are life guards at the beach.

Sandboarding at the Dunes of Siriu is great fun for the whole family; the dunes offer beginners and steep slopes. You can access the top of the dines via stairs. There is a big swing at the bottom of the dunes.

Nightwalk with Flashlights behind Nessa Onda: It's fun to explore after sunset and find little bugs and glow in the dark spiders in our safe neighbourhood.

Day trips

Floripa is only 1:15 h drive to the north. We recommend seeing the colonial buildings in Santo Antonio de Lisboa, the beaches around Jurere and an absolute MUST: a place that serves fresh gratinated oysters!

In the hinterland, there are some German villages and the German theme park Flusshaus.

Miscellaneous

At Ribanceira beach you will find a volleyball net next to the life guards. Imbituba has a skate park. There is a free football field at Portinho da Vila. Fazendas in the hinterland offer horse riding and there are many great fishing spots within walking distance.

Food

You will find many food options in the area; most of them, however, in Praia do Rosa in a 25 min driving distance. There is food delivery to our street from Imbituba (Pizza, burger sushi). We like Nonna Ines in Ibiraquera for weekend brunch, Paraiso 26 for a nice meal, a sunset drink and it's beautiful views up the road, Drakos Sushi in the town center for dine-in or take-out, Cafe da Esquina in Rosa for it's homemade natural fermentation breads and baked goods and Bukit in Rosa for Burgers.

Live music

We have two small beach bars at Ribanceira beach that offer live music: HaitunDaRiba and Aloha Bar. Check their instagram. In town, there is Zimbeer and there are many more places in Rosa and Garopaba.

Markets

There are two mini markets within 5 min walking distance in Ribanceira village, a Komprao in 5 min driving distance and the best supermarket in the area is Silveira in Rosa. There are little shops and a nice farmer's market in Garopaba as well as the Mormaii Outlet store. Big shopping malls are in Palhoça/Floripa.
